Anthony Melvin Smith better known as “Tony” age 58 was born August 12, 1963, in New
Orleans, LA and peacefully received his wings on Wednesday July 27, 2022, at his home in
Houston Texas. He was the son of the late Rosa M. Smith and Preston Smith. Anthony, attend
William O. Roger School, Andrew J. Bell Jr. High and, Joseph S Clark High school he was he
graduated 1982 all in New Orleans, LA. Anthony was a well-known Gospel singer in New
Orleans, LA where he was a member of Raymond Anthony Myles Singers (The Rams), Val and
Love Alive, Tyrone Forster and the Arch Singer and the Houston Mass Choir. He was the
beloved brother of Joann Smith, Dimitri Smith, and Jessie Anderson brother-in-law to Kenya
Smith-Anderson and Dr. Angie Smith. Also survived by nieces: Rinuite Jones (John), Angel
Riggins, Antoinette and Aretha County, JaKayla Anderson (Desear Anderson) and D’Antri
Smith; nephews: Jessie Bester (Brenda Bester); great nieces: Tatiana, Brianna and Ariana, a
surviving cousin Ruth Sorena; Aunt Earlene Singleton; 5 Godchildren; devoted friends: Vanessa
and Steaphine Blouin, Beverly Jones, Loretta Jefferson, Paulette Wright and Otis K. Williams
and a host of other relatives and friends. Anthony is proceeded in death by his parents Rosa M.
and Preston Smith, his sister Alice Mae County and nephew Anthony Riggins. Relative and
friends of the family, also Loving Word Church, Houston, TX., Franklin Ave. Baptist Church
and Greater Galilee Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA., Houston Mass Choir, The Rams,
Tyrone Foster and The Arc Singers and Val and Love Alive are invited to attend the Celebratory
Service on Saturday, August 13, 2022, for 12noon at Respect of Life Funeral Home, 7746
