Roberteen Castello Obituary

On the evening of Sunday August 23, 2020 after a long battle with her health, Roberteen Castello took her last breath.

Roberteen Veronica Castello was born June 4th, 1949 to Gladston and Naomi Roberts on the island of Antigua and Barbuda.  She was the 7th out of 8 children born in that union. She attended the Otters School St. John Antigua. After moving to St.Croix, US Virgin Islands where she spent her formal years, she met and later married Winfield Castello Sr.  To this union five children were born.  After spending a few years in St. Croix, Roberteen and Winfield made the decision to move to Houston, TX and remained there for over 30 yrs.

While living in Houston, Roberteen along with her husband became members of the Bellfort now WHO SDA church.  Roberteen was a very active member and ensured that her children were taught of God’s love.  She was an exceptional wife and mother who not only cared for her family but, also cared for her neighbors and friends.  Prior to her declining health, it was not uncommon for her to walk miles to deliver a home cooked meal to friend in need.  She was a caretaker to many, helping friends finish their education while taking care of their children.  Roberteen went out of her way to show love and compassion and didn’t do it out of obligation but simply because of the wonderful person she was, not expecting anything in return.

As her health worsened, her joy of life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through.  It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle, because she never stopped fighting.  When others would have broken, Roberteen remained strong.  Through her, her children know the true meaning of what it is to persevere and be resilient.

Roberteen is preceded in death by her parents Gladston and Naomi Roberts, sisters: Joslyn Lewis, Donna McKenneth and her nephew Shawn Lewis.  She is survived by her husband Winfield Castello Sr., her children Winfield Castello Jr. (Dannia Tate-Castello), Joslyn Irish (Damani), Florence Castello, Harman Castello (Juliana) and Sharona Castello.  Her grandchildren: Joseph Castello, Winfield Castello III, Kamille Castello, Kyle Irish, Nevaeh Irish, Austin Castello, Aubrie Castello, Savannah Castello and Rayna Castello(due in September 2020). Also her siblings: unborn twins, Stephen Roberts (Gertrude), O’Neal Roberts (Gwendolyn), Renita Roberts, and Cothbert Roberts (step-brother). Her nephews: Stephen Roberts, Raman Roberts, Rollan Roberts, Joseph Lewis, Patrick Lewis, Jerome Lewis, and Ishmael Lewis.
