Ronnie’s Life Journey
Galveston, Texas in the year of 1955 on the date of October 10th God blessed John and Margaret Simmons with a beautiful vivacious baby whom they named Ronald Wayne Simmons.
Ronnie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 8 under the leadership of the late Reverend M. I. Lewis of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Dickinson, Texas. He was an active member of the Sunday School, Junior and Youth Choir, BYPU, Star Light Band and Vacation Bible School. In his later life he became active with the New Jerusalem Baptist Church congregation.
Ronnie was a 1974 graduate of Dickinson High School. He furthered his education by entering Prairie View A&M University as a Pre Medical student. After studying for
two years at Prairie View he transferred to University of Houston and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. During Ronnie’s junior year in high school he became employed part time at the then Memorial Southeast Hospital which enhanced his interest in medicine. Once he transferred to University of Houston as a full-time student he also became full time at Memorial Southeast. Ronnie continued employment throughout his educational years. Once he had completed his education Ronnie continued to work at Memorial Hermann and added Bayshore Hospital to his Employment Resume’. After forty two years at Memorial Hermann Ronnie decided to retire and enjoy the fruit of his labor with his family and friends. However, being an industrious person, he studied and obtained his insurance license and became an agent for State Farm, Pennicle and had his own Allstate Insurance Company office. Ronnie kept his family legacy going by loving the sport of fishing. He also loved to hunt and entertain all the children he met. There was never a dull moment for the children when Ronnie was around.
